Terms of Service

raisin is a search, communication, and organisation tool — not a childcare booking service or placement agency. We do not guarantee that any daycare will respond to an application, offer a spot, or accept a child into their program.

1. Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of raisin together ("raisin," "we," "our," or "us"), a childcare discovery and application management service operated by Shikhar Jha at raisintogether.com.

By creating an account, accessing the service, or using any feature of raisin, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Shikhar Jha operating as raisin together.

2. Description of service

raisin is a digital tool that helps parents in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to search and browse licensed childcare facilities listed in the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) licensed childcare registry, view information about individual daycares, send application and reminder emails to daycares on the parent's behalf, track the status of childcare applications in a personal dashboard, and access a guided checklist (First Steps) for navigating the childcare search process.

raisin is a search, communication, and organisation tool. It is not a childcare booking service, a childcare placement agency, or a regulated childcare advisory service. raisin does not guarantee that any daycare will respond to an application, offer a spot, or accept a child into their program.

3. Eligibility

To use raisin, you must be at least 18 years of age, be a parent, legal guardian, or authorised caregiver seeking licensed childcare in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account.

raisin is currently available exclusively to parents seeking childcare in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia.

4. Account registration and security

Account creation — To access the full features of raisin, you must create an account by providing your name, email address, and a password, and by completing the onboarding process including adding at least one child profile.

Accuracy — You agree to provide accurate, truthful, and complete information when registering your account and at all times during your use of the service.

Security — You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at hello@raisintogether.com if you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account.

One account per parent — Each parent may maintain one raisin account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent service limitations is a violation of these Terms and may result in termination of all associated accounts.

5. Subscription plans and billing

Seed (Free) — Available at no cost. Includes: search and browsing of all listed licensed daycares, unlimited saved favourites, up to 10 daycare applications, application tracking dashboard, First Steps checklist, and one child profile. No credit card required, no expiration.

Sprout (Premium) — $9.99 CAD per month or $95.88 CAD per year ($7.99 per month). Includes everything in Seed plus: unlimited daycare applications, multiple child profiles, editable email templates, automated reminder scheduling, and weekly progress digest. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Blossom (Ultra Premium) — Currently in development and not yet available for purchase. Joining the waitlist creates no billing obligation.

Cancellation — You may cancel your Sprout subscription at any time from your account settings. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. Your account will revert to the Seed tier. Your data and application history will be retained.

Refunds — We offer a full refund on your most recent subscription payment if you request it within 7 days of the charge date and have not made more than 10 daycare applications using Sprout tier features during that period. Refund requests must be submitted to hello@raisintogether.com. We will process eligible refunds within 10 business days.

Price changes — We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' advance notice by email.

6. Acceptable use

By using raisin, you agree that you will use the service only for its intended purpose, provide accurate information in all emails sent on your behalf, treat daycare operators and their staff with respect in all communications, not use the service to send unsolicited, harassing, misleading, or abusive communications to daycares, not attempt to circumvent the Seed tier application limit through any means including creating multiple accounts, not attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt the technical systems underlying raisin, not reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the raisin application, not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the service, and comply with all applicable Canadian laws.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these provisions.

7. Daycare listings and data accuracy

Source of daycare data — Daycare listings on raisin are sourced primarily from the BC MCFD licensed childcare registry, supplemented by publicly available information and direct research. We update our listings regularly.

No warranty of accuracy — While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of daycare information displayed on raisin, we do not warrant that all information is current, complete, or accurate at any given time. You should verify all material information directly with the daycare before making decisions based on it.

No endorsement — The inclusion of a daycare on raisin does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or assessment of that daycare's quality, suitability, or safety.

8. Email communications sent on your behalf

Nature of the service — When you use raisin to apply, send a reminder, or withdraw an application, raisin sends an email to that daycare on your behalf. The reply-to address on every such email is your registered raisin email address. Responses from daycares go directly to you.

Your responsibility — You are responsible for the content of emails sent on your behalf through raisin. By using raisin to send communications to daycares, you represent that those communications are truthful, accurate, and not misleading.

No guarantee of delivery or response — We cannot guarantee that emails will be received by daycares, will not be filtered as spam, or will receive a response.

No guarantee of childcare placement — Sending an application email to a daycare through raisin does not guarantee, imply, or create any obligation on the part of the daycare to offer a spot, add you to a waitlist, or respond.

9. Intellectual property

raisin together, including its name, logo, visual design, software, content, and features, is owned by Shikhar Jha and is protected by applicable Canadian intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit any part of raisin without our express written permission.

Any notes, custom email text, or other content you create within raisin remains yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

raisin is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, we disclaim all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, Shikhar Jha operating as raisin together shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to failure to secure a childcare spot, loss of a childcare opportunity due to a delay or failure in email delivery, any action or inaction by a daycare, data loss, service interruption, or technical failures, or reliance on inaccurate or outdated daycare information.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of raisin shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to raisin in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Canadian consumer protection law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Shikhar Jha operating as raisin together from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your use of the service in violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law or third-party right, any content you submit or transmit through the service, or any claim that a communication sent through raisin on your behalf was misleading, inaccurate, or harmful.

12. Third-party services and links

raisin may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party service.

13. Service availability and modifications

We make reasonable efforts to maintain the availability of raisin but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any feature or aspect of raisin at any time. Where a modification materially reduces the features available to paying Sprout subscribers, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice.

When we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of raisin after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Termination

Termination by you — You may close your account and terminate these Terms at any time by deleting your account from your account settings.

Termination by us — We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately and without prior notice if you materially breach these Terms and fail to remedy the breach within 7 days of written notice, use the service to send abusive, harassing, or unlawful communications to daycares, engage in fraudulent activity, or are required by applicable law or a lawful order.

Effect of termination — Upon termination for any reason, your right to access and use raisin ceases immediately. Sections 9, 10, 11, and 15 of these Terms survive termination.

15. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Informal resolution — Before initiating any formal dispute process, you agree to contact us at hello@raisintogether.com and give us at least 30 days to resolve the dispute informally.

Formal disputes — Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada.

Class action waiver — You agree that any dispute will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class action or representative proceeding.

16. General provisions

Entire agreement — These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and raisin with respect to the service.

Severability — If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Waiver — Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment — You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.

Language — These Terms are written in English. In the event of any conflict between an English version and a translated version, the English version prevails.
